Counselor Information

Counselor's Listserv
The counselor's listserv is meant for communication between and among counselors in the Ohio PLTW network.  If you have questions about recruiting, setting up speakers, communicating with other schools in your district about PLTW,  scheduling, or PLTW course sequencing, alignment, etc. and would like to get opinions from other counselors involved in PLTW, please sign up.

We recommend that any counselor who is currently working with a PLTW program or potentially could work with one should sign up for the listserv in order to get feedback from other counselors.

Please observe the following guidelines for posting:

  • Post only information or questions that would be pertinent to PLTW counselors
  • If you can answer a posted question or questions, please "Reply" to the listserv so that others can benefit from your knowledge.
  • Do NOT use "Reply" to reply to a single individual. If you hit "Reply", the email will go to everyone on the list. To reply to an individual, you must send a separate email to that individual.

Articulation:
Please click College Options to see the colleges that currently articulate credit for PLTW courses statewide in Ohio.  Note that each institution has its own set of requirements, and that you can check how credit is awarded both by PLTW course and by the college program it falls under.  Addtionally, the Certificate of Completion is available to give to PLTW students as a communication tool with colleges to demonstrate proof of PLTW course completion.

Brochures and posters:
We have several different PLTW brochures, booklets, DVDs, and posters to send you for posting in your offices and hallways; please request large quantities of them by emailing PJ Marshall at patricia.marshall@sinclair.edu or smaller quantities or downloads directly from PLTW National on their website. http://www.pltw.org/Engineering/Request-Materials/Request-Materials.cfm

Counselor Conference Requirement:
PLTW requires that counselors involved with a PLTW program attend a counselor conference at least every three years.  Ohio holds an annual Fall Conference that sometimes includes a counselor component and sometimes does not include it.  The next conference to be held in Ohio will be in 2012.  Counselors may also attend counselor conferences out of state if there is not a current one available to attend in Ohio.  See the PLTW national website for information on counselor conferences.
