Ohio Middle School Recognition Process
In the interest of recognizing middle schools for excellence and honoring the Gateway to Technology programs which achieve it, middle schools in the PLTW Ohio network will be eligible for recognition as exemplary in Ohio based on the following criteria:
- The school is offering 3 or more modules from the PLTW Gateway to Technology program.
- The school has been offering Gateway to Technology for two or more years
- The middle school program is linked to a high school PLTW program to facilitate smooth transition of students in the STEM pathway
- The middle school contributes data to the national PLTW data collection system and the PLTW Ohio data collection system
To be recognized, please complete the following:
1. Fill out and submit the Middle School Standard of Excellence Program Application form on the PLTW National website
2. Complete the Self Assessment and send or email a copy of it to the Ohio State Affiliate.
3. You will be contacted by the PLTW Ohio affiliate to set up a site visit with the administration, GTT teacher, counselor and two or more students. Once the visit is completed, and if the school is approved, a Certificate of Recognition will be issued by Ohio PLTW and a recommendation for Recognition will be forwarded to National PLTW.
4. A fee of $300 will be charged for the Ohio Recognition Site Visit and is payable to Sinclair Community College through the PLTW Ohio affliliate.
