F1 In Schools Competition Winners

Recently a team from the Medina County Career Center’s PLTW Engineering Technologies and Design program took first place in the state of Ohio Formula 1 Technology Challenge held in April at the Kehoe Center in Shelby, Ohio. Team members include juniors Tyler Arnold, James Black, Connor Chronowski, and Mike Rodriguez. The F1 racing models entered in the competition are designed and raced by each team and simulate scaled-down versions of Formula One race cars. In addition to winning the overall competition, the team also received the Judge’s Choice Award. The team, accompanied by their teacher Mr. Dennis O’Brien will be competing in the F1 National Competition in Orlando, Florida at the end of June. Mr. O’Brien uses this competition to bring the skills of both IED and CIM together in one project.
