Teacher Training

Summer Training Institute (STI)
The PLTW STI is a two week intensive summer training workshop held at Sinclair Community College (or in some cases a remote location within Ohio).  The workshop covers the entire PLTW curriculum for the year in any given course with 80 hours of classroom instruction plus several hours of work outside class time.

Training Updates
Training updates are generally one to three days of training held after any course within the PLTW curriculum has been substantially changed in ways that may impact the teachers’ ability to teach the course.  Update training is mandatory for any teacher currently teaching the class that has been updated.  Teachers trained during STI on the new curriculum do not need to take update training.

Advanced Training
Advanced training applies to one-week (or alternative plan) sessions which cover new materials (such as the Flight and Space module in Gateway to Technology) not covered within the original two week STI training.
